When I die I’ll meet my god and you’ll meet your god. This viewpoint assumes that everyone goes to heaven and that there is no justice. For example, Hannibal, Idi Amin, Amrosi will not be held account for their murder of many people in the name of their god, but will go to heaven and be rewarded. It also assumes that there is no right and wrong. But this is illogical. For example there are opposing views on objective truths and facts in Islam and Christian belief – such as Jesus’ death and resurrection. These cannot both be true. The death and resurrection of Jesus are fundamental to the Christian faith. See 1 Corinthians 15:14. The Bible says there is only one true God. This means that only one God can be the one who exists. If that God is the God of the Bible then it matters to him what we say and do and think. We have rejected God and make up gods that suit us, in order to run away from Him. Jesus, who is God’s only Son, came to find us first. He lived, died and rose again. He shows that God is just and loving by taking upon himself the wrath of God that was rightly reserved for us. This means we can go to heaven. But it also means if there could be any other way God would have permitted it. The question for us then is - Are you ready to meet God? Other questions |
